About

Built in 1985, the boarding house was an addition to the original home which was constructed sometime around 1910. The previous owners registered the property as a boarding house with the town and lived in the front. At some point they moved into the back and closed the boarding house down. They had their sewing and material shop in the front and lived in the back. When we purchased the house and property in June of 2007 we once again set about to redo the back and make it into a boarding house for students and others needing affordable, safe accommodation. The house was once again registered with the town as a boarding house and licensed accordingly.

Situated in Olds on about an acre of land the property boasts a lot of green space and includes a BBQ and Fire Pit and parking area for the use of the residents. We plant a vegetable garden in the spring and there are raspberry bushes and rhubarb. We encourage people to make use of the BBQ and Fire Pit and enjoy the camaraderie of the other guests.

The OBH is a friendly, safe and comfortable home for all.

Who has stayed here? People desiring a home base while working on the oil patch; Construction Workers, Olds College researchers; Town of Olds management; truck drivers who are away for long periods of time but still need a place to call home; people whose life circumstances change and they need a place to live, mature students attending Olds College and wanting off-campus accommodation.

For information call Ian at 403 791 6254 and he will be pleased to show you a room if there is one available. It seems the average stay of our guests (other than students) has been over a year and counting; but rooms do come available so call and check.
